I loved Kam in Monster Haven series. She was fun, quirky and totally kicked butt. I loved her partnership with Darius and what they meant to each other. I was excited to read that she was getting her own spin-off series and I couldn’t wait to see what kind of shenanigans might go down. I was definitely not disappointed. This book had all of the heart and the humor that the Monster Haven books had, but in a completely different, glorious way. Kam is a force to be reckoned with, even if she is a bit of a hot mess and often stumbles into things rather than breaking down doors and solving mysteries.

I loved Kam’s food truck idea. It was fun and a bit weird and exactly what you’d expect from her. The mystery behind who’s killing the Hidden wasn’t too difficult to figure out, but the mystery wasn’t really what this book was all about. This book was about Kam finding her place after Darius and what happened at the end of the Monster Haven series. We get to see Kam making new friends and talking to old ones. We get to also see how the rest of the Hidden have thrived after the end of the previous series.

I’m excited about where this series is going to go. This is exactly the fun, humorous read I was expecting. I look forward to seeing more of Kam and Ash and now Tahm. This is a new must read series for me.

I love all of R L Naquin books!
I loved RL Naquin's Transmogrified series and this one looks to be as good. Great writing and fun characters.
Love this author and these characters. Good story very creative.
If you've read the Monster Haven series, ( which everybody should do) you know Kam is a fun, sweet djinn. Now she's on her own and we get to enjoy the adventures. I'm looking forward to the next story.
The main character, Cam, is a djinn with a huge heart who is as tough as she is smart and lovable. She takes on herculean tasks and, for the most part, emerges unscathed. She is a fiercely independent woman. Her ability to handle unwanted sexual advances is enviable. There is just that little problem of a prearranged marriage and time for thinking about it has run out.
This book was the perfect bend of murder mystery and laugh out loud humor. The main character is someone I want to be friends with, and I can't wait to read the next one! Just be ready to read it all in one sitting because it is impossible to put down once you start.
I love Naquin’s Monster Haven series. I wasn’t sure if I would like a spin-off. Happily, I really enjoyed it. I also was a big I Dream of Jeannie fan as a kid, so I lived vicariously through Kam. (I haven’t dressed up as a genie yet! ☹) The Toast Genie food truck idea was awesome. I wanted her to yell, “Let them eat toast!” ala Marie Antoinette. Someone’s killing food truck owners. Dead bodies pile up as Kam strives to solve the mystery before all those business men are stuck sitting in the Chick-fil-A drive thru lane half their lunch break.
